Genesis GV80: where to buy?
It probably doesn't surprise you that we would recommend buying a Genesis GV80 at Genesis of Carmel. While we wouldn't blame you for just searching for the nearest GV80, there are definitely reasons to go a little out of your way for a better experience. As a standalone Genesis dealership, we offer comfort, amenities, and an experience that other Genesis locations don't. For starters, having a dedicated location for only Genesis models, means less competition to get service and sales appointments as opposed to a dealer that sells both Hyundai and Genesis. Not all Genesis showrooms are created the same either. Our Genesis Premiere Showroom offers a more sophisticated feel to the shopping experience with an open space concept to experience the Genesis models in the most comfortable way possible. We have the only premiere location within 100 miles of Indianapolis, and we serve people from all over the area. If you're from Indianapolis, Fishers, Noblesville, Zionsville, Beech Grove, or any of the surrounding cities and towns, we invite you to experience Genesis shopping the way you were meant to. So, to answer the question emphatically, buy the GV80 at Genesis of Carmel.

What is it like inside the GV80: Seating, Cargo & Tech
Interior updates:Â Â The best place to understand the comfort of the GV80 is at your local Genesis dealer; the second-best place is right here. We were thrilled to hear that Genesis had decided to update the interior of the GV80. Don't get us wrong, the old GV80 was great, but they really kicked things up a notch with this iteration. It seems like Genesis has an even greater emphasis on using high-quality materials for the updated GV80. Design upgrades have improved the GV80's elegance, including a better-looking 3-spoke, two-tone steering wheel with optional heating, a better pedal design, and a center console made from premium materials. We also love the ambient lighting, which is adjustable. It really highlights all the unique materials in the GV80 well and provides some fun customization.

Interior Updates Recap:
- Genesis updated the GV80's interior
- Genesis focused more on high-quality materials for the updated model
- Improvements include a stylish three-spoke, two-tone steering wheel with optional heating
- Adjustable ambient lighting enhances the unique materials
Technology:Â Â We had seen some people weren't thrilled with some of the infotainment features of the old design, so we were excited to see that gone are the smaller infotainment screen and traditional gauge cluster. In its place is a wide 27-inch OLED display that serves as the multimedia screen in the center with driving info on the left. This showcases the blend of updated high-tech features and creates an overall cleaner look. Additionally, Genesis made things easier with a new wireless smartphone charging tray with better phone visibility, as well as a larger console cup holder and an easier-to-use knob for volume and tuning adjustments. While audio systems on the lower trims are plenty fine for most of us, if you're an audiophile, bumping up 2 trim levels to get the Bang & Olufsen Premium Audio system is definitely the right move. The available surround view monitor and remote smart parking assist are two tech features that we want to highlight, as they are both well thought out and just make life easier.

Technology Recap:
- Now has a large 27-inch OLED display for multimedia and driving info.
- Genesis improved usability with wireless phone charging
- Audiophiles will love the available Bang & Olufsen audio system
- Recommend trims with surround view monitor and remote smart parking assist
Seating options:Â Â One thing we like to point out is that the seats are a bit like buying a high-quality sofa. It may start a bit on the firm side, but that's because it's manufactured well. Give it a little time to break in, and you will be thrilled with the overall comfort. While not a necessity, since this is a luxury SUV, we would recommend going for a trim with the massage driver seat function. Life is too short not to give yourself some extra perks now and then. If that's a little too much for you, you'll be happy to know that heated seats come standard and ventilated seats are added pretty quickly on higher trim levels. The second row does add heating and ventilation for high trims as well. Models with a third-row option offer power reclining but no unique features beyond that.

Seats Recap:
- Seats are quality-built and feel even better when broken in
- Consider a trim with a massage seat
- Heated seats are standard, and ventilated seats are available
- Second row includes heating and ventilation in higher trims.
- Models with a third row have power reclining seats
Cargo and passenger space:Â Â You'd be hard-pressed to find more cargo and 2nd-row passenger space in a mid-sized SUV than the GV80. At 38.7 inches of legroom, most passengers should fit comfortably in the back unless they are well over 6 feet, in which case you may need to get a little creative finding an SUV anyways. Cargo space comes in at 36.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 71.7 cubic feet total if you put the rear seats down. Let's put that in more practical terms, though. We estimate that you could fit 6-7 full-size luggage bags back there or easily fit you and your foursome's golf bags with space to spare. We like that there is the option for a 7-seat configuration on the 3.5T Advanced, although you should consider the size of your rear passengers to figure out if this would be the right option for you. Overall, if you don't have any needs for 7 adult-size passengers, we would be genuinely surprised if the GV80 was too small for you.

Cargo & Passenger Recap:
- Most adults will be comfortable in the back with 38.7 inches of rear legroom
- 36.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 71.7 cubic feet total
- Fit 6-7 large luggage bags or several golf bags with spare room
- Only the 3.5T Advanced model offers a 7-seat option

The Redesigned GV80 is turning heads at Genesis dealers everywhere
Design updates:Â Â The GV80 has been one of the best-selling Genesis models for a few years now, so it can make us a bit nervous when we hear about potential redesigns. Now, for this particular article, we will focus on the standard GV80, but we also offer a full review of the GV80 coupe as well. The new GV80 isn't drastically different, but the changes they made had a huge positive impact. We particularly like the newly crafted Two-Line Crest Grille alongside the signature two-line headlamps that make our brand so popular. The new GV80 made the air intakes larger, added a wide skid plate on the front bumper, and added a tasteful amount of chrome accents that make it stand out even more. At the rear, the GV80 has shifted to concealed muffler tips within the bumper. We tend to prefer the way this is finished more than the prior design, but if you're someone who loves a dual exhaust style, this is something to keep in mind.

Design Updates Recap:
- Two-Line Crest Grille looks even better
- Still has signature two-line headlamps
- Added larger air intakes and a wide skid plate in the front
- Rear has hidden muffler tips in the bumper
Standout features:Â Â You can't go wrong with either of the two new redesigned wheel options. The 20-inch and 22-inch versions both accent the GV80 well, so we wouldn't recommend making a trim decision solely based on that. We appreciate the hands-free liftgate that comes standard across all trims, especially since, as a luxury brand, it feels like it should be a given. You'll also be happy to know that the panoramic sunroof is offered for every trim except the base. The power-folding outside mirrors are convenient, but it's the Genesis logo puddle lamps that really make it a standout feature.

Design Highlights Recap:
- New 20-inch and 22-inch wheels
- Hands-free liftgate comes standard
- Panoramic sunroof is available on all trims, except for the base model
- Folding mirrors with puddle lamps come standard
Visit our Showroom: Overall, we really didn't have any complaints about the updated design. When the new GV80 arrived at our Genesis showroom, it turned heads quickly, and we believe it will turn yours as well. The GV80 has 2 engine options: Which one should you buy?
The GV80 offers 2 engine options, and for most people the less expensive version will do everything they want and more.
The 2.5T:Â Â The 2.5L Inline 4 Turbo GDI is a solid engine option with 300 hp and 311 lb.-ft. of torque. While we wouldn't call it a performance SUV per se, the roughly 6ish second 0-60 time leaves plenty of room to have some fun, and a 6,000 lb. towing capacity should be good to pull most boats or some off-road toys you may have. Gas mileage comes in at 19 city and 24 highway for this, which is not bad for the output you get.
The 3.5T:Â Â So, if the 2.5L is so great, why go any higher? Well, for starters, some people just want the most power they can get, and at 375 hp and 391 lb.-ft. of torque, the 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 Engine definitely qualifies as MORE POWER. With gas mileage of 16 city and 22 highway, this option might not be for everyone, but it really isn't meant for everyone either. With a sub-6-second 0-60 time and the only option with an available rear electronic limited-slip differential, this is the engine option for those who don't want to ever feel limited by performance. And with the standard electronically controlled suspension, we would have to qualify this as the more fun option.
2.5L Inline 4 Turbo Engine | 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 Engine | |
---|---|---|
Horsepower | 300 hp | 375 hp |
Torque | 311 ft.lb. | 391 lb.-ft. |
Towing capacity | 6,000 lbs | 6,000 lbs |
City/Highway MPG | 19/24 MPG | 16/22 MPG |
Fuel Tank Size | 21.1 gal | 21.1 gal |
0-60 (Estimated) | ~6 Second | ~5.6 second |

A Genesis dealer's final take on the GV80
Overall, Genesis took an already quality, high-selling SUV and improved on it. Any issues we may have had in the past seem to have been addressed, and those were pretty nitpicky to begin with. The GV80 is spacious, with quality materials and all the tech you would expect of a luxury SUV. And although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, our eyes opened wide when we saw its new design. Engine options are diverse enough to make most people happy with an overall above-average performance. At the end of the day, though, the only way to truly know if this is the right midsize SUV is to see it up close. Visit a Genesis showroom today and experience the stunning GV80 for yourself.
